Principal's Report

Dear Parents/Guardians, Students and Friends of Prospect High School,

What a busy time since the last newsletter. It was very enjoyable watching many games and observing the great sportsmanship and participation recently in the Northern High Schools Basketball Competition. In addition, we had excellent representation in the Cricket Gala Day, Northern High Schools Sports Association Inter-High Athletics Carnival and Tasmanian Schools Triathlon Challenge.

Prospect High School Production - Aladdin

I had great pleasure on Wednesday evening to attend our wonderful production, Aladdin at the Earl Arts Theatre. This truly was a professional and entertaining production, showcasing the talents of performers from Years 8-10. Students studying drama, music and dance worked together for many weeks preparing to perform in front of audiences from primary schools, families and members of the community. Their commitment to learning lines and rehearsals certainly made this an outstanding performance. Many thanks to Mrs Genevieve Viney, Ms Ellie Couch and Mr Tony Gutierrez for their guidance and support of students and the many hours given of their own time. Thanks to staff, students and volunteers who helped with props, publicity, sound and lighting. Finally thank you to families and friends who came along to watch performances.

    Year 6 Orientation Day

On Wednesday we had the pleasure of welcoming Year 6 students from our feeder and associated primary schools for Orientation Day. Students spent the day experiencing a variety of activities and becoming familiar with our resources and context to make the first day of Year 7 run smoothly. Facebook showed some great photos of students enjoying the day. Thanks to Mr Mario Bergamin, Mr Brendan Poke and Mr Brendan Liddell for organising the day and to teachers who ran activities. Special mention to Year 9 students who did an awesome job welcoming and helping Year 6 students throughout the day.  Skyla, Isabella, Hannah, Mahalia, Will, Ava, Logan, Tiquiri, Hunter, Angus, Jeb and Riley were wonderful ambassadors for Prospect High School.

Finally, in an earlier assembly, I encouraged students to finish the term well. I asked students to find that extra bit of motivation and persistence so they can put effort into learning and assessment tasks in the next four weeks so they finish well. I would also ask for parents to support students to complete all their work so that they will receive the best results possible. Thanks in advance for your support.

    Kind regards
