This week, Grade 10 science students completed their chemistry unit learning about neutralisation reactions by performing titrations. Students added an acid of unknown concentration to a base, using a colour indicator to observe when pH 7 (neutral) was achieved. Once the volume of acid added was known, the concentration of the acid was calculated.
