Principal's Report

Dear Parents/Guardians, Students and Friends of Prospect High School,

Teacher Assistants Thank You

This week has been Teacher Assistant Appreciation week. I would like to thank and acknowledge our Teacher Assistants for the tireless support they give teachers in classrooms, on excursions and in the grounds. While Teacher Assistants often have specific times and specific students to work with, they go above and beyond, helping many students and spending their own time supporting students. A BIG thank you to all Teacher Assistants for the support of learners, parents and staff.

Career and Life Planning Day

Prospect High School has a co-ordinated whole school approach called Career and Life Planning. Through this curriculum students learn skills, knowledge and understandings to make informed decisions about work and career pathways and life decisions essential to an individual’s social and economic wellbeing and that of the broader community. Career and Life Planning together with our partnership with the Beacon Foundation engage with local and Tasmanian businesses and industries to link education with students’ future employment options. Last week students in Grades 7-9 had various presentations and guests to assist with future career paths – including resume writing, Timberlink site tour, leadership session, part-time employment options. Grade 10 students spent the day at Launceston College and this week Newstead College becoming familiar with course offerings and facilities.

Northern Collective “Taster” Days 2022

The Northern Collective Schools which include Brooks, Exeter, Kings Meadows, Launceston Big Picture School, Lilydale, Prospect, Queechy, and Riverside will be holding open days next week. Each of these secondary schools offers specialised VET and/or TASC programmes.  The Open Days are designed to give interested students in grades 10 and 11 an opportunity to learn more about the programmes, participate in activities, meet the teachers, and explore the Senior Secondary space at the respective school. To attend the Open Day, students will be transported to and from the school and their grade teacher will accompany them. Prospect High School will be showcasing our offerings: Hands on Hospitality and Tourism and Personal Health and Wellbeing and Japanese on Monday 5th September 10.00-12.00pm. Information can be obtained from Gr 10 Care teachers and Mrs Pollard.

School Satisfaction Surveys - Student, Parent and Staff

This year, School Satisfaction Surveys for students, parents and staff will be conducted from 29 August to 23 September 2022. These surveys contain questions on a range of matters about our school.  This survey provides an opportunity for students, parents and staff to give important feedback which will be treated as confidential and anonymous. Feedback is valued by our school as a means of identifying what the school does well and opportunities for the school to make improvements. Although voluntary I encourage you to participate and complete the survey to assist the school when planning for future programs and services for students.

The survey is open NOW until Friday 23 September 2022 and should take about 5 minutes to complete. https://ncv.microsoft.com/k12V8zo8DG

Each family should nominate one person to fill in this survey for their child(ren).

Take the online survey by clicking this link or pasting it in your browser: https://ncv.microsoft.com/k12V8zo8DG

The survey is carried out on a secure website and all responses are anonymous and confidential. All families in this school receive the same survey link and no identifying information is collected. A summary of the survey results will be provided to schools. Responses from individuals or small groups will NOT be disclosed to any Department of Education staff. Please contact your school if you require any assistance.

Kind regards
