Summer

Stage Manager

  1. Why did you want to be involved in this production?

Because it sounded like a fun opportunity to be a part of something. Plus I have seen previous productions and they looked like fun, especially creating something and having my own ideas come to life.

  1. Who is your favourite character and why?

I don’t know who my favourite would be, but I would say Jasmine is up there. She is independent, doesn’t follow the rules, makes her own choices and just wants to find true love.

  1. What is your role in this production and what are you enjoying about it?

I am the stage manager, I love the role because I get to do a bit of every off-stage thing, I like the creative freedom the role has, and I get to input my ideas.

  1. What’s the biggest challenge been for you so far?

My biggest challenge would be learning the new language and how to do blocking notes, I hadn’t been in drama before so I didn’t know how to do them at first but now I can.

  1. What are you most excited for?

To be able to show off what we all have created to a live audience and show them how much effort we have put into this production.

  1. What’s been the most enjoyable thing about production so far?

Getting to work with people, the different aspects of production, and how it is created.

  1. What would you say to people who want to be involved in production in future years?

If you are interested in any part of production, give it a go it’s a fun experience and you get to create something amazing.

Do you know what a stage manager does?

A Stage Manager is an important role in a production. They work across all technical areas (costume, props/set, lights, data and sound), supporting others to make sure that they are on track, sharing information between areas and supporting the director. The Stage Manager must create and keep a Prompt Copy which is a detailed copy of the script where blocking notes and technical cues are stored. During our performances, Summer will be responsible for making sure that all of our stagehands are changing the set on the correct cues in-between scenes.
