Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Carers, Students and Friends of Prospect High School,

Athletics and Inter-High Carnivals

Congratulations to students and staff on the successful athletics carnival. Well done to participants and congratulations to Nyanda House for winning. The day was a great mix of field and track events with good participation and fantastic encouragement from spectators. Congratulations to place getters and record breakers. There will be acknowledgment of record breakers at the next whole school assembly. Thank you to parents who gave up time to come to the carnival. Many thanks to the HPE team, in particular Ms Ellie Couch, for leading the organisation of the day and to the non-teaching and teaching teams for their help and support on the day. Congratulations to all members of the Inter-High athletics team who represented Prospect High School at St Leonards Athletics Track on Wednesday. We were placed third overall and this is an excellent result due to a great team effort and encouragement by all members. Well done all.

Prospect High School in the News

Prospect High School recently received great publicity on 7 Nightly News Tasmania and in The Examiner as an acknowledgment of our participation in Beacon Foundation activities. Year 8 students attended the Beacon Foundation Hospitality Showcase at the Country Club Tasmania and found this very informative. Another group of students attended a Growth Industry Preparation Program (GrIPP) which gave students the opportunity to experience five of the fastest growing industries in Tasmania - building and construction, tourism and hospitality, advanced manufacturing, aged and community service and food production industries for young Tasmanians. Students engaged with the staff to learn about each of the industries and what educational pathways could be taken to undertake these as a future career. Grade 8 and 9 student leaders attended Careers on Wheels also a Beacon Foundation activity at Kings Meadows High School. Students who have been involved in these events have been very appreciative of the opportunity and represented the school with pride.
