Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Students and Friends of Prospect High School,

 Teacher Assistant Appreciation

Last week, Prospect High School and the DoE acknowledged the work of Teacher Assistants. We are very lucky to have a dedicated and caring team who go above and beyond for all our school community. The range of Teacher Assistant duties is vast, and they provide support and assistance to a diverse number of students as well as at the elbow assistance for teachers. On behalf of all staff and students at Prospect High School THANK YOU!

Junior and Senior Winter Sports Finals

I had the pleasure of attending some Winter Sports finals this week. Well done to the senior netball, senior girls football and senior boys football, junior netball, junior soccer and junior football teams who made the finals. Congratulations to players and coaches of the senior netball team, junior soccer and junior and senior boys football team who won their games. All players showed great sportsmanship and represented Prospect High School with pride.

 2022 Course Selections

Students in Grade 7, 8 and 9 will be choosing optional subjects for 2022 in the coming week. There will be information sessions for all students today and course selection information will also be released online for parents to view. Students are encouraged to discuss course selections with parents and will be required to return completed forms signed by parents on Friday, September 17th. I would like to make parents and students aware of the following important points :

  • Students are encouraged to choose option subjects that align with interests, skills, and possible future pathways.
  • It is expected that students will consult with their parents before choosing option subjects.
  • Students are reminded to make their own subject choices; it is not appropriate for students to choose the same option subjects to be with their friends.
  • It is important to note that option subjects will only run if sufficient students select the option and class numbers are viable and resources are not over-extended.

Rock Challenge

I am delighted to announce that Prospect High School has two finalists in the acoustic section of the Tasmanian Rock Challenge Final. Summa and Julia will compete tonight at Launceston Conference Centre (South Launceston, TAS). Congratulations to the girls for making it to the finals, and good luck tonight. Thanks to Mr Tony Gutierrez for his encouragement and support.

 Student Success

Congratulations to Georgia who has been selected in the state U15 Tasmanian Devils girls football team, and to Ebony for success with her Working on Water 2021 application.

Kind regards

Mrs Lee Barker
