Transition Talks 2021
Transition to Year 11 talks have started with the Year 10 students to create a Transition Plan. A transition talk is an opportunity for Year 10 students to chat with either Jennifer or Jan in the 11/12 space about their subject choices for 2022 and their career aspirations which are then reflected in their individualised Transition Plan. Through these talks, Jan and Jennifer work with the students to explore their interests and future plans so that the right selection of subjects is chosen at Year 11 to ensure that students are on the future pathway that is right for them. These preliminary talks are vital to assist students in selecting subject information sessions to attend at Open Days at Launceston College (21st June) and Newstead College (24th June). During these talks, students are also encouraged to think about the questions they need to ask teachers at Open Days to find out the information that will help them make the very best decisions for them concerning their future and study plans.
The Tasmanian DOE has created a new and very informative website called “Careerify”: https://careerify.tas.gov.au/ The site is designed as a toolkit to help individuals (students, teachers, parents, business) explore future career pathways and options and learn the steps needed to get there. It is an engaging and aspirational website with articles, activities and testimonials set within an easy to use interface.
