In 11/12, the students have been busy in maths with spaghetti. “What does spaghetti have to do with maths?”, you ask. Well, spaghetti becomes significant in the maths’ world when it is used to create a bridge that is then tested for strength. The results of the experiment are then used to create a graph and draw conclusions about the various bridge designs and highlight anomalies that exist. The students had a great (and somewhat frustrating) time creating the bridges, but the results were impressive with ALL the weights that were borrowed from Science Department being used. The two strongest bridges were able to hold a whopping 10.5kg!
