Principal's Report
Dear Parents/Guardians, Students and Friends of Prospect High School,
Cross Country
Congratulations to all students who enthusiastically participated in the cross-country last Tuesday. Conditions were excellent and there were some great performances. Once again feeder primary schools were invited; this is a great opportunity for students to experience our course and become familiar with our school. Action footage of the Year 7 and 8 Cross Country with Grade 6 primary students can be seen via link on Facebook. Thank you to the HPE team for organising the day and to parents who came along to support students. Good luck to the Inter-High team who will represent Prospect High School next Tuesday.
Cancer Council Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea
The Eagle’s Nest Café catering team prepared wonderful platters for staff and parents to raise money for the Cancer Council on Thursday for the Cancer Council Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea. Thank you to the catering team and SLB who assisted. This is money for a very worthy cause. Thanks to Mrs McMahon for initiating and organising the morning tea.
School Association
At the recent School Association meeting, I shared the 2021 School Improvement Plan, and we discussed arrangements for parent-teacher. We were also given an update on the design for the school cap and hat which should be available for purchase later in the year. Thank you to parents and representatives who come along to these meetings for your highly-valued input.
Year 11/12 news
Currently, nine students (five in Year 11 and four in Year 12) are studying TASC subjects – English, Work Pathways, Maths, Personal Health & Wellbeing, Music, Art, Japanese, Project Implementation, Computer Applications, and Workshop Techniques-textiles/fibres at Senior Secondary @ Prospect HS. We are also running a few of the General Capability courses offered through the DOE that garner students two TCE points. Next year we plan to expand our scope offerings to include Food / Hospitality / Enterprise & Tourism which is a unique course that is being developed in partnership with our local businesses and utilising the Eagle’s Nest Café.
Music Competitions - Well done!
Congratulations to students who participated in the Launceston Music Competitions this week. Just being given the opportunity to compete is a wonderful and valuable experience. Thank you to Mr Gutierrez for organising this. I very pleased to report that we had some fantastic results.
