JCP Empowering Youth workshop
On Monday 29th March, Prospect High students from Grades 7 to 10 attended a JCP Empowering Youth workshop. The main themes of the session were focusing on your values, being aware of your influences – both positive and negative, how you can influence others, and looking for role models to inspire you in your daily life. Students were asked to reflect on their values daily and to think about if they have lived up to their own expectations. When thinking about their influences in life, students were asked to think about how their actions can have a positive or negative influence on those around them, as well as the influence that others have on them. They were then challenged to become a positive influence on others and seek out those who have a positive influence on them. Students were also asked to identify who their role models were – those who they aspire to be like, and those with whom they have regular contact. Our Student Leadership Board, along with Sports and Peer Leaders, spent time focussing on and discussing the fact that they are role models, and looked at strategies to allow them to be the best version of themselves and to continue to set goals. A big thanks to Josh, Sam and Jade for inspiring us.
They were left with this quote:
“The smallest dream you make happen is far greater than the biggest dream that you don’t fulfil.”
