Principal's Report
Dear Parents, Students and Friends of Prospect High School,
Welcome to the first newsletter for Term 2. I hope you all had a lovely Easter and holiday. I was lucky enough to travel interstate to spend time with my family.
Inter-High Success
Such a fantastic result with Prospect High School winning the Inter-High Swimming Carnival on the last day of Term 1. This was the first win for Prospect High School in 27 years.
We treated the Inter-high team to a heroes' welcome on their return to school with a spontaneous whole school assembly. I would like to acknowledge and congratulate the many talented students in the Inter-High swimming team for their effort.
I also want to also acknowledge the supportive and hard-working HPE teachers.
Congratulations to all.
Orienteering Success
Over the holidays, Prospect High School had representatives competing in the Tasmanian State Schools Orienteering Championships held at Stonehenge, midway between Oatlands and Triabunna. We achieved excellent results. Congratulations to the following students who were overall course winners: Riley (Course 1), Zac and Zach (Course 3), and Henry and Griffen (Course 4).
Touch Football School Series Final
Congratulations to students who represented Prospect High School at the Touch Football School Series final yesterday. The competition was fierce and our students played well.
ANZAC Day Assembly and Wreath Laying
Last Friday afternoon we held our ANZAC assembly. Special guest Wing Commander, Linda Corbould OAM spoke about the significance of ANZAC Day and of the Unknown Soldier. Congratulations and thanks to Wing Commander Linda Corbould, to performers, and those who laid wreaths. Thanks to Mrs Slore, Mrs Matthews, Riley, Charles, and Alicia who attended the Launceston ANZAC ceremony and laid wreaths on behalf of the Prospect High School community.
NAPLAN
This year NAPLAN testing for Grade 7 and 9 students will be done online and held from the 11th to 24th May, 2021. Students will use Prospect High School computers that have the necessary settings. In preparation, students will undertake a practice test this term. This will help students adjust to the new platform and become familiar with the types of questions that will be asked.
Reminders
Student Drop Off and Pick Up
A reminder to families that the student drop-off and pick-up location is the turning circle at the left entry of the school, alongside B block. Parents/guardians are requested to use the front visitor car park for dropping off or picking up students. The front of the school is for buses and staff car parking only.
