Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Students and Friends of Prospect High School

Welcome, Bem vinda! Huānyíng! Yōkoso!

We welcomed a number of international students to Prospect High School recently. These students will be in Grade 10 and they will be staying with us on a cultural exchange from Brazil, South America.

We also have three new Grade 10 students from Tokyo, Japan and one Grade 9 student from Hong Kong. We are looking forward to sharing our great school and state with them, as well as learning about the different cultures.

Student Devices

For the first time this year, Grade 7 and 8 students will be issued their own personal device to use in all subjects. This is very exciting and will assist students to engage in many and varied activities and extend their knowledge of technology. The laptops will be able to be used for learning during their time at Prospect High School. Grade 9 and 10 students, as with previous years, still have access to computer laboratories and laptops.

Leadership Assembly

On Tuesday, the 2020 Grade 10 Leaders were presented with their badges. Mr Tim Coyle was the guest speaker and the talented Josie, Julia and Baylee performed a musical item. Tim highlighted the fact that everyone is a leader in their own right, and that an important role is to set high standards and be able to inspire others. Students who were awarded Eagle awards and Rats of Tobruk awards were also presented with certificates. Thanks to sponsors and Chair of the School Association, Mr Russell Kerr, who presented certificates and badges. The assembly was run in a confident and seamless manner by the 2020 Student Leader Board. Congratulations to all student leaders who have been elected to the positions of Support Leaders, Sports Leaders and to the Student Leader Board. A big thank you to everyone for this very successful event. This includes Mr Scott Brewer for the overall co-ordination and organisation, Mr Josh Cassidy for catering, Mr Phil Van Ash and Mr Andrew Towns for gym set up, Mr Tony Gutierrez for music preparation and performance, the administration team for invitations and programs, and student leaders for their help with organisation and presentation.

Thank you to the friends and family who attended the assembly and stayed for refreshments afterwards. This was a very proud occasion for our 2020 leaders.

School Association

The first School Association meeting for 2019 will be held on Wednesday 4th March at 5.00pm in the meeting room. The meetings run for an hour to an hour and a half. New members are welcome to join the School Association. This is a great opportunity for parents to keep abreast of information and be part of the decision making process at Prospect High School.
